ARTIST STATMENT
Anita Wernström is a visual artist and is working with the body as a tool and a subject. Her artistic research is based on the politicised body and visual pleasure. With performance, installations, video and collage she is using methods of deconstruction to understand the world around her. Using feminist and postcolonial theory she has developed a intuitive, emotional and conceptual language that holds both humor, activism and poetic strand.
She graduated with a BA First Hons from Slade School of fine art 2008 and was selected for the Bloomberg Contemporary the same year. Lives and works in Stockholm, Sweden.
